Dave and I are engaged!! 🙂
So many happy tears, you’ll have to excuse my eyes in these pics 😉
What I thought would be a fairly quiet evening of dinner with Dave followed by a few drinks with our friends, Julie and Will, to celebrate my birthday turned into the best night of my life! I had no idea what was in store for me and could not have been more surprised!
How it happened…
Dave and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the restaurant, Sixteen, in the Trump Tower and had an extremely fancy, yet incredible, “four-course” meal. (I’ll post about the food later.)
Once we had a few bites of dessert, Dave got up and said he had to run to the bathroom real quick. As I sat there, the seconds ticked by… turning into minutes and I started wondering where the heck he went?! As the time passed, I ate my dessert and nearly finished his too 😉
Just as I was getting ready to text him to make sure everything was okay, the hostess approached my table and informed me there was a surprise. I followed her to the elevator and she escorted me up to the 27th floor. We walked down the hall, stopped in front of a room door and she handed me the key, saying this was “where her part ends.”
At this point, my heart was racing and I thought there might be some sort of birthday surprise just on the other side of the door but still had no clue what it could be. I slipped in the key, opened the door, and didn’t see anyone. It wasn’t until I walked about 8 steps into the suite that I noticed a trail of rose petals leading to the back bedroom.
As I followed the rose petals, I heard my favorite song playing in the other room – “Ho Hey” by the Lumineers.
I think it was at this point the thought finally crossed my mind that Dave might be proposing but everything happened so fast, I had no time to really think. I felt like I was dreaming or in a movie with the soundtrack playing in the background.
And once I turned the corner, Dave was on one knee and he asked me to marry him!!
Shortly after, we each had glass of champagne and headed downstairs to grab the limo to meet Julie and Will at Vertigo, a bar at the top of the Dana Hotel. We rode the elevator up to the bar, stepped out and turned the corner…
And SURPRISE! We were greeted by lots of family and friends to help celebrate my birthday AND our engagement!
After shedding too many tears, sipping too much wine and champagne, and spending time with our amazing friends and family, we were exhausted from all the excitement and called it a night.
We are so thankful for everyone who helped make the evening so memorable! 🙂
